ENTRANCE PORTFOLIO
Here is a display of some of my college/university entrance portfolio submission.
MAGAZINES
ARTIST STATEMENT: My inspiration for this magazine was a clean black and white but also visually appealing look. I used simple fonts combined with bolder fonts to capture attention. I also used big fonts on the side of the page and pictures that continued onto the other page to keep readers hooked. All of the pictures in this piece are my own photography. Pulled place holder for the purpose of concept. PHOTOGRAPHY: EVVA REAUME
ARTIST STATEMENT: In this, my inspiration was older sport magazines combined with newer ones. I wanted the colors to feel familiar so I used the same color as the helmets for many of the title texts. All of the pictures in this piece are my own photography. I played around with different layouts as well as color schemes but ultimately these are the ones that popped and stood out the most. I also chose a bolder text to draw attention to that page in hopes to draw readers into the read the rest of the text. Pulled placeholder copy for the purpose of concept. PHOTOGRAPHY: EVVA REAUME
COOKBOOK
ARTIST STATEMENT: For my cookbook I took a lot of inspiration from Joanna Gaines’s Magnolia Table. I wanted a really simple and clean look that was coherent and easy to follow. After many trials I got exactly what I had in mind for each recipe. I wanted the picture of the final result to be big so the reader would know what they are making.
POSTERS

ARTIST STATEMENT: For this poster the picture I chose had a lot going on, a lot of color and different elements in the background so I wanted to keep the text simple but eye-catching. I used a combination of three different fonts that go together to help represent the picture. I combined typography and imagery to create this poster. When choosing the fonts I felt that each font chosen for the word matched the work in this context. All of the pictures in this piece are my own photography. PHOTOGRAPHY: EVVA REAUME

ARTIST STATEMENT: I wanted to incorporate my favorite color into this (green) but also show off typography, by using different fonts, sizes, lines, and effects. I chose to maintain a simple color scheme by choosing green and white then decided to use a quote to fill in the text areas. I really enjoyed making this and having a very simple poster with only text.

ARTIST STATEMENT: For this poster I wanted a really clean and minimalistic look, I used my own picture and brought the plant forward in front of the text as well as worked with text shadowing to get the perfect angle to match the plant’s shadow. I chose a simple but eye-catching font to go with the poster, so the feel of minimalism would remain but the font would still catch your eye. PHOTOGRAPHY: EVVA REAUME

ARTIST STATEMENT: I worked alongside my teachers and the board throughout my school as well to curate this poster. I had made 4 different options and sent them off for them to pick, once they picked one they emailed me back with tweaks and logos to add until we eventually got the perfect one. Since this was for a tech night I used glitchy text and computer pop ups to convey a techy feel. I also used the colors from one of the logos as my overall color scheme.
PACKAGING

ARTIST STATEMENT: For this piece I entered a design contest for a local cidery, unfortunately you had to be of drinking age to participate but I still did anyway not expecting to even get put in, then I received an honorable mention, I used an orange color for the peach part and green for the pear part. Since it was for a craft cidery I wanted it to feel light and summery so I drew the pear and peach and put the color splashes behind it to give the artsy summery feel to the drink label. ARTIST STATEMENT: I wanted to still achieve the simple look of the paper bag on the front but I wanted to have something that was eye-catching on the back. So I went with the company name on the front and the words “fashion” to represent what the company is, a clothing store. I did a bolded but simple text to help keep the simplicity aspect but the design of it catches the eye.
COFFEE SHOP CONCEPT
ARTIST STATEMENT: I was inspired by many different coffee shops for this piece. I wanted to do something different and play around with a more bubbly font and some brighter colors to venture away from what I normally do. I came up with the logo and the name of the shop then went from there and designed some coffee bean bags, water bottles, a grand opening post, tote bags, t-shirts, and sweaters. The color scheme really pops out and because of the pink and blue you are able to appeal to many different audiences, combining the pink and blue you attract a younger audience and just sticking to the blue and white that will help draw an older more mature audience. Combining typography and colors really helps show the versatility of the coffee shop itself and the many different types of people it can appeal to.
APPAREL
ARTIST STATEMENT: For this shirt I wanted something simple on the front that was still tied into the back, so I put little flowers growing out of the pocket and on the back a giant flower and a quote. I used a simple text to help make the focal point the flower.
ARTIST STATEMENT: I wanted to use imagery and typography but combine them both, I wanted to put the image inside of the text. I also wanted the CN Tower to be a focal point for the shirt so I lined the tower up inside of the letters so it continued throughout the shirt design.
